The polling station at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Italy on Sunday received Turkmen citizens living or temporarily staying in Italy to vote in the elections of Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Turkmen Embassy reported in its press release for media.
This historic social and political event was held following the universally recognized norms of international law, the Constitution of Turkmenistan and high democratic standards.
The list of voters in Italy includes Turkmen citizens temporarily residing in the country, students, as well as employees of government agencies and private companies.
The polling station at the Diplomatic Mission of Turkmenistan in Belgium also received Turkmen citizens residing or temporarily staying in the territory of the Benelux countries. The Embassy provided all the necessary conditions for the smooth operation of the polling station, openness and transparency of the elections.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 42 polling stations were opened at the diplomatic missions and consular offices of Turkmenistan in foreign countries to vote for deputies of the Mejlis, members of the provincial, district and municipal Halk Maslahaty and Gengesh. According to data provided by the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda in Turkmenistan, 12,907 voters were registered abroad. Over 12,300 people had voted by 7 p.m. Ashgabat time.
According to the regulations of the Electoral Code, the voting results will be announced at the soonest time possible.
