Turkmenistan Starts Producing Iodine from Oil Waste
The drainage, which forms on the surface of the oil field due to oil production, is used in iodine production.

Turkmenistan has started utilizing oil waste from the Goturdepe field to produce iodine, the Neytralnyy Turkmenistan newspaper reported on Monday.

According to the report, the drainage, which forms on the surface of the oil field due to oil production, is tested in laboratories.

If the drainage shows positive results, it gets sent to the iodine plant for further exploitation.

The Goturdepe oil field was discovered in 2010 in Balkan province of Turkmenistan and currently combines 15 wells.
