International banks take part in financing several transport projects in Turkmenistan, Chairman of the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan Rahimberdi Jepbarov stated at the "International Transport and Transit Corridors: Connectivity and Development" (ITTC 2023) held in Ashgabat on May 3-4, 2023.
Chairman of the Board of the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs emphasized that with the financial support of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for $ 125 million and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) - $ 371 million, the railway line Kazakhstan - Turkmenistan - Iran with the length of 724 kilometers was built.
Rahimberdi Jepbarov noted that the IDB financed the purchase of three oil tankers worth $42 million, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) gave a soft loan of $40 million to modernize the locomotive depot in Ashgabat, and the Export-Import Bank of China - to purchase locomotives and passenger cars - worth $95 million.
The Chairman of the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs added that currently the construction of the International Airport in Jebel is carried out at the expense of the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan for $80 million and with the financial support of Abu Dhabi Development Fund - $75 million.
