The new city of Arkadag will be opened on June 29, 2023. The corresponding Decree was signed on Friday by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
According to the official media of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the administration of Arkadag City, the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, the Ministry of Culture, and the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs were tasked to ensure the opening of the Arkadag city on a high level.
The document was adopted with the aim of organizing the opening of the city of Arkadag, built on the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the basis of the concept of "smart city" with the use of advanced technologies of the new generation, at a high level.
The Decree also orders the Ministry of Culture, the State Committee for Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography and the State News Agency to provide high-level media coverage of the opening ceremony and the measures taken in Turkmenistan in the concept of "smart city".
President Berdimuhamedov on Friday held a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers and participated in the ceremony for the launch of second phase of Arkadag city construction. At the meeting, the Head of State noted that 336 modern buildings have been erected within the first phase of Arkadag city construction, built on the basis of the "smart city" concept.
The Cabinet of Ministers’ comprehensive meeting also reviewed ways to improve the living conditions of the Turkmen people.
