Korean KOMEA Offers Balkan Factory to Open Joint Venture

Directors of South Korea's marine equipment research association KOMEA, at a meeting with the heads of the Türkmendeňizderaýollary (Turkmen Maritime and River Transport) Agency on Tuesday, offered to establish a joint enterprise between the Balkan Shipbuilding and Repair Plant and KOMEA. 

The Turkmen side made a presentation about the country's current maritime network, its plans for future shipbuilding projects, and its desire to establish mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation, Türkmendeňizderaýollary ((Turkmen Maritime and River Transport) reported on its official website. 

The meeting discussed possible areas of cooperation between Turkmenistan and South Korea in the field of shipbuilding, including strategic cooperation, joint design and construction of vessels, training of specialists, the introduction of new technologies, and digitalization of factory activities.

The sides also discussed the possibility of creating a Center for the Caspian shipbuilding industry at the Balkan Shipbuilding and Repair Plant in the future, which will provide the necessary equipment for the Caspian shipbuilding industry, especially for maritime transportation.

KOMEA, South Korea's marine equipment research association, is affiliated with the country's Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy. Its members include over 2852 heavy industry companies.
