“Trade turnover between Russia and Turkmenistan along the North-South international transport corridor, including through the commercial sea port of Makhachkala, will grow steadily and "will explode" in the coming years, TASS news agency reported on Friday, citing the Russian Trade Representative to Turkmenistan Alexander Yelizarov.
"We expect constant growth in the next three to five years," Yelizarov noted.
The Russian representative to Turkmenistan stressed that food industry products, construction materials and general cargoes are promising areas of trade turnover. Currently, the countries exchange metal, timber, food and chemical industry goods.
The Russian trade representative also added that the countries are planning to develop container transportation via Makhachkala sea trade port.
