Kazakhstan Agrees on Discount on Transit Through Turkmenistan to Afghanistan

Kazakhstan has reached an agreement on a 30 percent discount on the transit of goods through Turkmenistan to Afghanistan, Kazinform news agency reported on Tuesday with reference to the statement of the Vice-Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan Kairat Torebayev during a meeting with journalists in Astana, dedicated to the upcoming Kazakh-Afghan business forum.

The Vice Minister also informed that Kazakhstan will continue cooperation with Uzbekistan in the supply of flour and grain to Afghanistan.

In addition, Kazakhstan in a pilot mode sent several trucks on a new trade route to Pakistan through Afghanistan.

In March, the press service of Russian Railways announced that Kazakhstan will offer a 40% discount on transportation to Turkmenistan and other Central Asian countries via the Russian-Kazakh border crossings for the main nomenclature of goods, except for grain, milling and petroleum products.
