USAID Provides Consultations to Turkmen Greenhouse Complexes on Tomato Cultivation

USAID's Trade Central Asia activity announced a new project for Turkmenistan's greenhouse complexes specializing in tomato production and export to provide them with comprehensive consultations from leading international agro-consulting companies, ORIENT news agency reported on Thursday.

The initiative is aimed at comprehensively enhancing the potential of Turkmenistan's greenhouse cluster (tomato producers) to facilitate their entry into new premium markets with higher quality and food safety requirements.

Particularly, the USAID's Trade Central Asia activity announced the beginning of the call for applications from Turkmenistan's leading greenhouse complexes specializing in tomato production to participate in the competition. Based on the results of the competition, three greenhouse plants will be selected to receive comprehensive consultations from international agribusiness consulting companies. The duration of the consultancy will be 8 months, expected to start in September or October 2023 and last until April or May 2024.

The consultancy will be provided remotely via the internet and will cover various aspects of tomato greenhouse production. They will include development of microclimate management strategies, development of plant nutrition formulas, irrigation scheduling, use of plant growth regulators, staff training, development of work organization strategies and other important aspects.

Applications from companies will be accepted online at the link provided until August 31, 2023, 6:00 PM. The winning companies will be selected and informed by September 8, 2023.
