The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine Riyadh al-Maliki in Ashgabat on Thursday. During the meeting, the sides emphasized the priority of expanding mutually beneficial trade-economic cooperation and establishing direct contacts between entrepreneurs and businesspeople of both countries.
Riyadh al-Maliki conveyed Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' cordial greetings to the National Leader of the Turkmen people and an invitation to visit Palestine. The Palestinian Foreign Minister emphasized the country's interest in strengthening a fruitful dialogue with Turkmenistan.
The Halk Maslakhaty Chairman conveyed warm greetings and sincere gratitude to the Head of Palestine for the invitation to visit the country, the official Turkmen media reports.
During the meeting, special emphasis was placed on the availability of broad opportunities for establishing mutually beneficial economic relations aimed at a long-term perspective. In addition, petrochemical and textile sectors, agriculture and processing industries, export of food products and digital technologies were identified among the main vectors of interstate cooperation.
The same day, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan hosted political consultations between Turkmenistan and Palestine at the level of foreign ministers. During the talks, the Turkmen side proposed to hold a business council meeting with the participation of representatives of the private and public sectors in order to establish new ties and discuss cooperation.
