Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Pakistan Atajan Movlamov and Pakistan's Interim Federal Minister for Commerce and Industry Gohar Ejaz in a meeting in Islamabad on Thursday considered opportunities to expand transportation and trade cooperation between the countries, according to the press release issued by Pakistan's Government.
The talks focused on developing trade routes, rail links, gas pipelines and transit trade.
The two sides highlighted the potential for the realization of mutually beneficial infrastructure projects and expressed their intention to strengthen economic integration between the countries of the region.
In turn, the Turkmen envoy invited Pakistani companies to participate in the development of Arkadag smart city project.
The meeting participants additionally discussed the potential for export of construction materials and machinery from Pakistan, as well as the country's participation in exhibition events held in Turkmenistan.
In late August, the Ministry of Energy of Pakistan and Turkmenistan agreed to speed up work on the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project.
