President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov at the cabinet of Ministers on Friday emphasized the importance of taking measures to expand the range of banking services in the country and increase the solvency of credit institutions, the country’s official media reports.
During the meeting, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on economic, banking and international financial organizations Hojamyrat Geldimyradov, in his report on macroeconomic indicators for January-August 2023, said the GDP growth amounted to 6.2 percent.
During the eight-month period, the volume of production compared to the same period last year increased by 6.3 percent, while the volume of retail turnover is up 9.6 percent. The country’s foreign trade turnover saw a 2.5 percent increase during the period, according to the report.
The Vice-Premier added that the fulfillment of the state budget's revenue and expenditure parts in the eight months amounted to 112.6and 97.6 percent respectively.
The volume of investments in Turkmenistan from all sources of funding in the first eight months of this year grew by 10.9 percent compared to the same period last year.
Following the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the need for timely preparation of the draft State Budget and Investment Program for the next year, and stated the importance of further improvement of the country’s banking system.
The government meeting considered topical tasks of socio-economic development of the country and drafts of a number of documents.
