President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov at a cabinet meeting on Friday instructed the Director General of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers Mammetkhan Chakiyev to prepare new proposals to increase the directions and number of international flights, and improve the conditions for online purchases of flight tickets.
During the meeting, Mammetkhan Chakiyev informed that in the first eight months of 2023, the growth rate for the execution of work and provision of services in general for the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers amounted to 123.8 percent, the country’s official media reports.
In January-August of this year, the growth rate of cargo transportation by road, rail, air, sea and river transport amounted to 106.2 percent, and in passenger transportation – 104.6 percent.
Chakiyev also briefed on the work carried out within the framework of the implementation of the “Concept for the development of the digital economy in Turkmenistan for 2019–2025.”
Summarizing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stated the need to enhance the capabilities of the digital system when accepting applications for cargo transportation by road, sea and rail, and addressed specific instructions to the Head of the Agency.
The government meeting considered topical tasks of socio-economic development of the country and drafts of a number of documents.
