During a regular government meeting on Friday, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov reported to President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhammedov that a Turkmen delegation has been invited to participate in the Transport and Investment Forum in Brussels, the Belgian capital, on January 29-30, 2024.
The Deputy Prime Minister proposed to send a Turkmen delegation to Brussels to participate in this event, the official Turkmen media reports.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan also proposed to hold a meeting of transport experts in the second quarter of next year based on the Joint Declaration adopted after the European Union-Central Asia Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Luxembourg on October 23, 2023.
During the Government Meeting, it was proposed to organise a meeting with the relevant EU entities in the first quarter of 2024 to discuss opportunities for cooperation in the energy sector and exchange experiences.
During the meeting, the Foreign Minister also proposed to send a delegation to Brussels (Belgium) to participate in the 15th meeting of the Human Rights Dialogue "Turkmenistan-European Union" and the 22nd meeting of the Joint Committee Turkmenistan-EU. These events are scheduled for December 18-19 this year.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasised the importance of intensifying cooperation with the European Union and instructed the Minister of Foreign Affairs to continue conducting work based on the parties' common interests.
