Turkmenistan and Iran Discuss Visa Facilitation For Truck Drivers

Representatives from Turkmenistan and Iran convened at the Artyk-Lotfabad checkpoint on Tuesday to address the simplification of visa issuance for truck drivers, the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan reported.

Agoyli Niyazov, heading the Turkmen delegation from the Customs Control Department of the State Customs Service, and Korban Karimi, Chief of the Lotfabad Customs Post, led the Iranian delegation.

The Turkmen delegation featured representatives from Customs, Migration, Border Guard, Türkmenawtoulaglary, and Türkmendemirýollary Agencies, along with the director of the state enterprise Türkmenulaggözegçilik. The meeting also saw participation from the Consul General of Turkmenistan in Iran (Mashhad city) and the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan in Ahal province.

Discussions encompassed the future of freight transportation through the Artyk-Lotfabad border checkpoints, considering the extension of working hours for officials at this customs checkpoint and addressing transportation expenses.

The meeting also focused on plans to repair the Iranian segment of the road between the customs posts.
