Last year, Afghanistan imported electricity from Turkmenistan worth $64 million, as reported on Wednesday by TOLO news, citing the Afghan energy company Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) informational bulletin.
According to the report, during the same period, the country also purchased electricity from Tajikistan ($71 million) and Iran ($48 million).
This year, Afghanistan plans to purchase 6.7 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, signing contracts with Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and Iran.
In late April 2024, a Turkmen delegation and representatives of DABS held a meeting to discuss the completion of construction and commissioning of the Noor-ul-Jihad substation in Herat.
