Türkiye expects to reach an agreement soon on the swap supplies of Turkmen gas, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar said in an interview, the official media of Turkmenistan reports.
"Türkiye is currently exploring the possibility of importing gas from Turkmenistan through a swap arrangement via neighboring Iran," Bayraktar said.
The minister added that he hopes to reach an agreement by the end of this month.
As reported, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and the Turkish state gas company Botas signed a cooperation agreement on June 4, 2024, to supply Turkmen gas through Azerbaijan and third countries to Türkiye.
In March 2024, Turkmenistan and Türkiye signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop a partnership in the field of natural gas.
