Leadership of Turkmenistan’s State Concern Turkmengaz and Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and CEO of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), discussed a range of gas sector cooperation topics during a video conference on July 20, Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan reports.

The talks covered the development of the Galkynysh gas field and ADNOC's participation in Turkmenistan’s international energy projects. Since 2023, ADNOC has been collaborating closely with Turkmengas in line with international gas industry standards and practices.

Following the video meeting, both Turkmen and Emirati officials affirmed their commitment to continuing the partnership and strengthening its legal framework, while also addressing specific economic and technological aspects of ongoing projects.

In early 2024, during a working visit to the UAE by Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Turkmengas and ADNOC signed a Memorandum of Understanding. This agreement reflects the commitment of both parties to collaborate on the development of the third phase of the Galkynysh gas field.

The legal framework for Turkmen-Emirati relations in the energy sector was further enhanced by a signed Memorandum of Cooperation between Turkmengas and ADNOC, which outlines the parties' commitment to exploring scientific, technical, and economic collaboration to reduce methane emissions.
