Rashid Meredov Attends Inauguration of Iranian President
Meeting between Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and newly elected Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, July 30, 2024, Iran

On July 30, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Chairman of the Turkmen-Iranian Commission on Economic Cooperation from the Turkmen side, Rashid Meredov, paid a working visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran on behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. During the visit, he attended the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian.

As part of the visit, the President of Iran received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, who conveyed congratulations and best wishes from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to the head of the neighboring state on the occasion of his inauguration.

In return, the President of Iran sent warm greetings to the President of Turkmenistan and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, who significantly contribute to strengthening and comprehensively developing bilateral cooperation in mutual interests.

Currently, Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran closely cooperate in various fields. President Masoud Pezeshkian particularly emphasized the importance of further strengthening previously reached agreements to enhance partnership in the fuel and energy sector, electricity, and transport-transit areas. He praised Turkmenistan for its significant initiatives and implementation of projects of global importance.

During the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction with the successful development of a constructive dialogue both bilaterally and multilaterally within international organizations.

Recently, there has been active cooperation between the two countries in political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres, enriched with qualitatively new content.
