Today, in the large conference hall of the Garagum Hotel in the capital city of Ashgabat, an extended meeting of the delegations of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan took place. Following the meeting, a series of documents in areas of mutual interest were signed.
In particular, the following agreements were concluded:
– A Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan's state-owned company "Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat" regarding cooperation on the implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan power transmission line project;
– A Memorandum of Understanding between the "Turkmendemiryollary" Agency of the Agency of Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan's Ministry of Public Works on cooperation for the construction of facilities at the Turgundi railway station;
– A Work Plan for the 22-kilometer segment of the Turgundi-Sanabar section of the Turgundi-Herat railway, the construction of which is planned between the "Turkmendemiryollary" Agency and Afghanistan's Ministry of Public Works;
– An Agreement between the joint-stock company "TAPI Pipeline Company Limited" and the Government of Afghanistan on the host country agreement for the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project.
The extended meeting between the delegations of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan and the signing of these documents aim to give a new boost to the further development and expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
