On Thursday in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met with the European Union's Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jutta Urpilainen. During the talks, the two sides discussed the launch of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor Coordination Platform at the ministerial level, as well as the current state and future prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the EU.
Both parties emphasized the significance of the GIZ project "The European Union for Green Development in Turkmenistan: Political Dialogue and Climate Action for 2024–2028," part of the "Team Europe" initiative on water, energy, and climate change in Central Asia. The project supports Turkmenistan's sustainable development efforts by leveraging advanced international practices and EU standards.
The discussions also explored potential cooperation in the fields of digital communications and water resource management. Urpilainen praised the effectiveness of the "Team Europe" program in digital integration and affirmed the EU's readiness to deepen collaboration with Turkmenistan in this area.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on bilateral and regional programs in areas such as trade, education, healthcare, and energy.
