Signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between China's Shaanxi Province and Turkmenistan to establish the Luban Workshop, Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, China, October 18, 2024.

China’s Shaanxi Province and Turkmenistan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a "Luban Workshop," as reported by Turkmenistan’s official media on Monday.

The initiative aims to strengthen educational ties between the two countries and train highly skilled professionals to support Turkmenistan’s economy.

Under the agreement, the Yagshygeldi Kakaev International University of Oil and Gas, Xi’an Shiyou University, Hebei University of Petroleum Technology, the China Education Association for International Exchange, and CNPC will collaborate to open the workshop in Turkmenistan.

The workshop will focus on both formal and non-academic education in the fields of geological exploration and information technology. Plans include exchange programs for faculty and students, joint research projects, and information sharing.

This will be the first "Luban Workshop" in the world to offer master's, bachelor's, and vocational education programs. Supported by China’s Ministry of Education, the project aims to integrate education with industry and prepare professionals familiar with Chinese technology.
