Turkmenistan has inaugurated two new power plants on the Day of Construction and Industrial Complex Workers, as reported by Turkmenistan’s official media.
The Etrek power plant, with a capacity of 220 kV, was opened in the Etrek District of Balkan Province in the west, while the Bagyr plant, with a capacity of 110 kV, was commissioned in the capital, Ashgabat. Both facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment from leading global manufacturers.
According to the Ministry of Energy, the new plants will strengthen the country’s power system and enhance its export potential. Special attention was paid to environmental standards and the implementation of resource-saving technologies during construction.
These facilities will not only fully meet domestic demand but also boost electricity exports to neighboring countries.
The opening ceremony of the Etrek power plant was attended by members of the Mejlis, leaders and representatives of the provincial and district administrations, the energy sector, national organizations, and respected elders.
The launch of these new power plants is part of Turkmenistan’s national program to modernize its energy sector.
