More than 600 participants from 40 countries will convene in Ashgabat for the International Conference on Transport and Transit Corridors: Interconnection and Development – 2024 (ITTC 2024), scheduled for November 26-27.
Mammethan Chakyyev, the Director General of the Agency for Transport and Communications, updated officials on preparations during a regular online Cabinet meeting on Friday, as reported by official media of Turkmenistan.
The program for the forum, dedicated to World Sustainable Transport Day, includes a high-level plenary session and thematic workshops. A notable event will feature the second Ministerial Meeting of the Group of Friends of Sustainable Transport, organized in collaboration with the United Nations, along with the event Safe Roads for All.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov highlighted Turkmenistan's strengthening position as a key transport and logistics center in the region and directed officials to ensure high organizational standards for the event.
The Cabinet meeting also covered various state policy issues.
Turkmenistan initiated the establishment of World Sustainable Transport Day through a UN General Assembly resolution on May 16, 2023.
