President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov participated in an informal summit of CIS heads of state in St. Petersburg on Wednesday, traditionally held before the New Year, as reported by the official media of Turkmenistan.
During the summit, leaders reviewed the Commonwealth's activities over the past year, discussed cooperation priorities, and outlined future tasks. They addressed issues related to strengthening economic ties, humanitarian cooperation, and relevant aspects of international and regional agendas.
President of Russia Vladimir Putin acknowledged Turkmenistan's contributions to enhancing cooperation within the CIS. He expressed gratitude to Serdar Berdimuhamedov and National Leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for their efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.
Participants also paid special attention to the anniversary of Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Pyragy. This year featured numerous cultural events celebrating the 300th anniversary of his birth, taking place not only in Turkmenistan but also in many CIS countries.
After concluding his visit, President Berdimuhamedov returned to Ashgabat, where representatives of the Turkmen leadership welcomed him.
