Turkmenistan will begin supplying natural gas to Türkiye on March 1, 2025, according to Ambassador of Türkiye to Ashgabat Ahmet Demirok, who announced it at a press conference at his residence on Friday.
Turkmenistan and Türkiye signed the supply agreement on February 10, 2025, after completing negotiations. The gas will be delivered through Iran under a barter arrangement.
Demirok emphasized the project's importance both in the short and long term, noting future plans to complete the Trans-Caspian Gas Pipeline for gas deliveries to Europe.
Earlier, Turkmenistan held negotiations with the Turkish company BOTAŞ on supplying Turkmen natural gas to Türkiye through Iran under a SWAP arrangement.
