Turkmenistan will establish a Livestock and Veterinary Research Institute under the Ministry of Agriculture, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers overseeing the agro-industrial complex Tangryguly Atahallyyev announced during a regular online government meeting on Friday, as reported by the official media of Turkmenistan.
Atahallyyev reported on ongoing efforts to create new research institutes in agriculture, strengthen the sector’s technical infrastructure, improve crop yields, increase livestock and poultry productivity, and conduct scientifically based breeding work.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of a scientific approach to developing livestock and poultry farming. In response, he signed a resolution to create a new research institute aimed at improving production and processing technologies in animal husbandry. The document outlines goals for developing innovative veterinary technologies and ensuring the efficient use of pastures.
The Ministry of Agriculture will establish the institute based on the Scientific and Production Center for Livestock and Veterinary Medicine at the S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University. The ministry will also draft and approve the institute’s charter.
The government meeting also addressed several other state affairs, resulting in corresponding decisions.
