Representatives of the water management agencies of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan met in Turkmenabat to discuss the rational use of water resources from the Amuderya River.
They focused on measures to reduce water losses, modernize hydraulic structures, and implement flood prevention activities, as reported on Tuesday by the Agency of Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan.
During the visit, the Uzbek delegation toured the Tuyamuyun hydrojunction facilities. There, the parties addressed operational issues and exchanged proposals to improve the efficiency of hydraulic structures.
They agreed on further joint steps to implement the agreements reached during the fourth meeting of the Turkmen-Uzbek intergovernmental commission. The participants confirmed their commitment to developing cooperation in hydraulic engineering, introducing water-saving technologies, and digitally accounting for water resources.
They also agreed to conduct joint scientific research on transboundary water objects and share experiences in implementing water-saving technologies and digitalizing water resource accounting.
