President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has appointed Muhammetmyrat Sapargulyev as Deputy Prosecutor General and Director of the Main Directorate of the Prosecutor General’s Office, Turkmenistan’s state news agency reported on Wednesday.
Sapargulyev, a junior counselor of justice, was previously serving as the prosecutor of Ashgabat’s Kopetdag district. He was relieved of that position upon his new appointment, which was made in accordance with Article 16 of Turkmenistan’s Law on the Prosecutor’s Office.
The president also dismissed Begench Gurbangulyyev, a counselor of justice, from his post as Deputy Prosecutor General and Director of the Main Directorate.
The appointments were made during a regular meeting of the State Security Council, where officials reviewed the performance of military and law enforcement agencies over the first half of the year. The agenda also included discussions on strengthening national security, maintaining public order, and improving the material and technical infrastructure of the country’s security institutions.
