Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Japan, Atadurdy Bayramov, met with Rod Harris, Head of the Europe Division at New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, in Wellington on July 15, 2025. The sides discussed prospects for developing political, diplomatic, trade, economic and cultural ties between the two countries, Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry reported on Friday.
During his visit, Bayramov also held talks with the Head of the Protocol Department of New Zealand’s Foreign Ministry and with the ambassadors of Turkey and Mexico, addressing key issues of bilateral cooperation.

On July 16, 2025, Ambassador Atadurdy Bayramov was officially accredited in New Zealand, becoming Turkmenistan’s first diplomat to hold accredited status in the country.
The credential presentation ceremony took place at the Government House in Wellington, where he presented his letters of credence to Governor-General Cindy Kiro. Bayramov will serve as Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to New Zealand concurrently with his current diplomatic mission in Japan.
