Oguljahan Atabaeva, the Vice President for Medical Activities of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Fund for Children, emphasized at the Women Leaders Forum during the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries that women are the foundation of the family and key drivers of sustainable development. She noted their significant contributions to the economy, education, culture, and preservation of spiritual values, as reported by Turkmenistan's official media on Thursday.
Vice President highlighted the Foundation's work, which has assisted hundreds of children over the past four years, funding more than 500 complex surgeries, including neurosurgical, orthopedic, and cardiovascular procedures. The Foundation also operates Children's Health and Rehabilitation Center named after Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, where free rehabilitation services are provided to children of various ages on a daily basis.
She stressed that Turkmenistan's state policy is focused on supporting women, developing their creative and intellectual potential, and strengthening family values. In closing, Atabaeva quoted Mother Teresa: "Women are the heart of the home. To love and be loved, and through that love, become instruments of peace in the world."
Founded in March 2021, the Charitable Foundation has been actively developing partnerships with similar international organizations. Since its establishment, the Foundation has provided aid to children affected by natural disasters in various countries and has supported the treatment of underprivileged children in Turkmenistan.
