Renowned fashion designer, entrepreneur, and founder of the Armani brand, Giorgio Armani, has died in Italy at the age of 91, according to press release of the company.

Armani remained the company’s chief executive and creative director until his final days. In an official statement, Armani Group said that family members and employees will continue to carry the brand forward in memory of its founder.

Born on July 11, 1934, in Piacenza, Armani had a profound impact on global fashion. He was the co-founder of the eponymous company, which produces clothing, accessories, and costumes for film. His portfolio includes more than 100 movies, among them American Gigolo and The Untouchables.

Even in his later years, Armani continued to lead the business and had been preparing to celebrate the brand’s 50th anniversary. According to media reports, he died surrounded by close family members.

2022
