Humanitarian cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation will be further developed. The parties agreed to construct an additional building for the A.S. Pushkin Secondary School in Ashgabat.

This agreement was one of the key outcomes of the regular meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation, which took place yesterday in Ashgabat.

The meeting was chaired by the commission's co-chairs – Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Nokerguly Atagulyyev.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin emphasized the importance of this project for both countries and announced specific deadlines for its implementation:

‘We agreed today on the further development of the A.S. Pushkin Secondary School. I believe we will begin construction soon and we should open the additional building by 2027. We will continue this direction; we believe it is very important for us’, Khusnullin stated.

The construction of the new building will significantly increase the capacity of the only educational institution of Turkmenistan where instruction is conducted according to Russian state educational standards.

The meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission reaffirmed the strategic nature of Turkmen-Russian relations. In addition to education, the parties discussed the further development of the ‘North-South’ international transport corridor and emphasized the promising prospects for cooperation in sports.

Following the meeting, a number of important documents were signed aimed at expanding cooperation in areas such as transportation, education, agriculture and the simplification of customs procedures, creating a solid foundation for a long-term and mutually beneficial partnership.
