Türkiye is ready to secure long-term and large-scale supplies of Turkmen natural gas, said BOTAŞ CEO Abdulvahit Fidan during his speech at the Turkmenistan Oil and Gas International Conference (OGT-2025) on Wednesday in Ashgabat.
Fidan said the move will mark an important step in strengthening the energy partnership between the two countries. He noted that the start of Turkmen gas deliveries to Türkiye in March of this year was a historic event, reflecting years of efforts and agreements.
The BOTAŞ chief highlighted Türkiye’s advanced energy infrastructure, including main pipelines, liquefied natural gas terminals, and underground storage facilities, which provides favorable conditions for expanding cooperation.
He said Türkiye consumes 55–60 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually, most of which is imported, and Turkmen gas represents a significant potential in this context.
Fidan also noted that creating a direct gas link between Türkiye and Turkmenistan will provide access to international markets.
BOTAŞ is a state-owned oil and gas company of Türkiye involved in the transportation and sale of hydrocarbons in domestic and international markets.
