President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov chaired a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers via the digital system on Friday, focusing on key issues of state policy.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov reported on the preparations for the upcoming official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to the Italian Republic.

One of the priority directions of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy remains the consistent expansion of cooperation with countries around the world, including European states. Among them is the Italian Republic, with which Turkmenistan established diplomatic relations on June 9, 1992. The partnership between the two countries, built on principles of equality, mutual respect, and benefit, covers a wide range of areas. The legal framework of Turkmen-Italian relations currently includes 39 bilateral documents.

The forthcoming official visit of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Italy is expected to become an important step toward further strengthening and expanding interstate relations. The program includes a meeting between the heads of state, participation in the Turkmen-Italian Business Forum, and the opening ceremony of the exhibition “Ancient Civilization of Turkmenistan” at the Capitoline Museums in Rome. Following the visit, a package of bilateral documents on key areas of cooperation is planned to be signed.
