Turkmenistan and the United Arab Emirates have discussed expanding their partnership in the oil and gas sector, according to the UAE Embassy in Turkmenistan.
The issue was addressed during a meeting in Ashgabat on Thursday between Maksat Babaev, chairman of the State Concern Türkmengaz, and UAE Ambassador Ahmed Al-Hameli.
Practical energy cooperation between countries began to actively develop in 2000, when Dragon Oil started operations in Turkmenistan under a production-sharing agreement. The company’s primary focus has been hydrocarbon extraction in the Cheleken contract area in the Caspian Sea.
The State Concern Türkmennebit and Dragon Oil (Turkmenistan) Ltd. signed a contract extending the production-sharing agreement until May 1, 2035.
