Ashgabat hosted an awarding ceremony of the “Türkmenistanyň Bitaraplygynyň 30 ýyllygyna” medal and a set of commemorative insignia marking the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality, the country’s official media reported Saturday.
The events were held at the Center of Public Organizations of Turkmenistan, Magtymguly Turkmen State University, the administrative building of the Department for Affairs of the President of Turkmenistan, and the Mukams Palace of the State Cultural Center.
Jubilee medals and commemorative badges were presented to representatives of various sectors, including public administration, the economy, culture, science and the social sphere, in recognition of their contributions to national development and the promotion of neutrality principles.
Speakers said Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality, recognized by resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly, remains a key pillar of the country’s foreign policy aimed at promoting peace, stability and sustainable development.
The ceremonies were part of a broader program of events marking the International Year of Peace and Trust and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality.
