Turkmenistan plans several major investment projects in its transport and communications sector in 2026, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Mammethan Chakyyev said at a government meeting Friday.
Priority areas include building modern railway stations, ships, and industrial and social facilities, as well as repairing locomotives and rolling stock, according to official Turkmen media.
Chakyyev said the projects aim to increase freight turnover through more efficient use of existing infrastructure, leverage the region’s transit potential, further digitalize the sector, create favorable conditions for investment, and expand international cooperation.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed the deputy prime minister to take the necessary steps to ensure the transport and communications sector meets modern standards.
The meeting also addressed other pressing issues on the national agenda, and corresponding decisions were adopted.
