The Central Commission for Holding Elections and Referendums in Turkmenistan (CEC) held a meeting Wednesday to announce the start of the election campaign on January 15, 2026, Turkmenistan’s official media reported.
According to a decree of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, elections for members of the Halk Maslahaty in several districts of Ahal, Dashoguz, Lebap, and Mary provinces will be held on March 29, 2026. In addition, due to the early termination of mandates, elections will be held for Mejlis deputies in certain electoral districts, as well as for members of provincial, district, and city Halk Maslahaty and Gengeshes.
The meeting was attended by CEC members, representatives of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan, the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the Agrarian Party, civil society organizations, and media representatives.
Participants reviewed the boundaries of electoral districts and precincts and analyzed the composition of current district and precinct commissions. The CEC approved the schedule for preparing and conducting the campaign, confirming its readiness to ensure transparency, competitiveness, and a high organizational standard for the elections.
The Central Commission for Holding Elections and Referendums in Turkmenistan was established in 1992.
