Turkmenistan plans to establish an Interdepartmental Working Group on Trade Facilitation, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Nokerguly Atagulyyev said during a government meeting on Friday.
According to Turkmenistan’s official media, the deputy chairman briefed officials on steps being taken to implement the Framework Agreement on Trade Facilitation in the Asia-Pacific region, which Turkmenistan has joined. He noted that national coordination structures are already in place in other member states.
In this context, the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations has studied international experience and begun preparations to create Turkmenistan’s Interagency Working Group on Trade Facilitation. The new body is expected to ensure compliance with international agreements and strengthen coordination with regional countries and other states worldwide.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedow highlighted the effectiveness of measures taken by Turkmenistan to expand trade and economic cooperation. The head of state approved the initiative and instructed the organization of necessary work to establish the interagency working group.
The meeting also addressed a number of other important state matters, for which corresponding decisions were adopted.
