China imported $8.41 billion worth of natural gas from Turkmenistan in 2025, TASS reported Tuesday, citing China’s General Administration of Customs.

Currently, Turkmen gas is delivered to China through three pipelines — A, B, and C — in the Turkmenistan–China gas pipeline system, exporting about 40 billion cubic meters annually. After the launch of the fourth D line, exports are expected to rise to 65 billion cubic meters, strengthening supply stability.

Chinese company CNPC will begin industrial development of the fourth stage of the supergiant Galkynysh gas field early this year, with a projected capacity of 10 billion cubic meters per year.

Trade turnover between Turkmenistan and China reached $9.164 billion from January to November 2025.
