Turkmenistan To Join ADB Cross-Border Water Cooperation Project

Turkmenistan will take part in a regional Asian Development Bank project aimed at strengthening cross-border cooperation on water resources and improving climate-resilient water management.

According to the ADB, as cited by Report, the project also involves Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The initiative is being implemented under the water sector of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation program.

Total technical assistance for the project amounts to $750,000 and will be financed through the ADB Technical Assistance Special Fund.

The project includes the establishment of a regional cooperation platform that will bring together participating countries, experts, policy solutions and projects to support coordinated and sustainable water resource development.

The ADB said the initiative will support institutional mechanisms for regional cooperation and upgrade procedures and tools for climate-resilient water management.
