Turkmenistan’s President Appoints New Heads in Oil and Gas Sector

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Friday appointed several new leaders in the country’s oil and gas sector during an expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, according to the state news program Watan habarlary.

President relieved Batyr Amanov of his duties as deputy chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers in charge of the oil and gas complex. Guvanch Agajanov, chairman of the Türkmennebit state concern, was appointed to the post.

President Berdimuhamedov also accepted the retirement of Ashyrguly Begliyev from his position as presidential advisor on oil and gas matters.

The expanded Cabinet meeting reviewed the country’s 2025 performance, heard reports from deputy chairmen, ministers, and hyakims of provinces, and discussed priority socio-economic development tasks for 2026, as well as personnel matters related to appointments and dismissals of senior officials.
