Turkmen President Appoints New National Security Chief

President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the country General of the Army Serdar Berdimuhamedov, appointed a new head of the Ministry of National Security of Turkmenistan at a meeting of the State Security Council on Saturday.

According to the Watan habarlary, a presidential decree relieved Maj. Gen. Nazar Muhammadmyradovich Atagarayev of his duties as minister of national security due to a transfer to another post.

The same decree appointed Maj. Gen. Dovletgeldi Gurbangeldiyevich Meredov as minister.

The meeting also heard reports from military and law enforcement agencies of the State Security Council on their work in January.
