Turkmenistan’s Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations Nazar Agahanov met with Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Ravshanbek Alimov to discuss expanding industrial cooperation between enterprises of the two countries.

The sides reviewed prospects for developing trade and economic ties, Uzbekistan’s Dunyo reported Thursday.

The talks also examined a plan of joint trade and economic activities between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan for the current year.

Participants noted that the free trade regime introduced on Feb. 25, 2025, has contributed to steady growth in bilateral trade.

Special attention was given to the launch of the Shavat–Dashoguz cross-border trade zone, which is seen as an important tool for strengthening cooperation between the two countries’ border regions.

Trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan totaled $1.203 billion in 2025.
