Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met Feb. 26 in London with Julia Ann Hoggett, chief executive of the London Stock Exchange, and Lucy Rigby, economic secretary to the Treasury, to discuss strengthening practical economic cooperation with UK partners and attracting long-term capital for infrastructure and energy projects, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said.
Turkmenistan highlighted London’s role as a leading global financial center shaping international investment flows and expressed interest in deepening practical economic engagement with UK partners.
The talks emphasized Turkmenistan’s commitment to expanding economic cooperation with the United Kingdom. Around 30 companies with British capital are registered in Turkmenistan, operating in construction, industry, trade and services.
Participants noted positive trends in bilateral trade and economic relations and highlighted the Turkmen-UK Chamber of Commerce and Industry as a key mechanism for coordinating cooperation.
The discussions concluded with expressions of interest in expanding collaboration in sustainable finance, banking, auditing, insurance and digital financial solutions.
