Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan aim to expand joint agricultural projects, a topic discussed during a meeting between Uzbekistan’s Agriculture Minister Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov and Turkmenistan’s Deputy Agriculture Minister Berkeli Berkeliyev at the Italy–Central Asia (C5) + Azerbaijan forum on Monday in Tashkent.

The sides discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation, including the exchange of experience and the introduction of modern technologies in agriculture, according to Uzbekistan’s Agriculture Ministry.

Talks focused on cotton seed production, including the distribution of varieties by region and the adoption of high-yield crops.

The meeting also addressed digitalization of the sector, the use of innovative solutions and farmer training using modern agrotechnologies.

Participants noted that pilot projects aimed at improving farmers’ skills could help boost yields and expand the agricultural sector’s export potential.

The Turkmen delegation arrived in Uzbekistan to take part in the international agribusiness forum Italy–Central Asia (C5) + Azerbaijan, held in Tashkent from March 23 to 24.
