Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Hojamyrat Geldimyradov said at a regular government meeting on Friday that total production output increased by 10.4% in January–March compared to the same period last year.
According to Turkmenistan’s official media, gross domestic product grew by 6.3% during the reporting period. Growth in industry reached 2.4%, construction — 6%, transport and communications — 10.3%, trade — 8.3%, agriculture — 2.4%, and services — 8.3%.
Geldymyradov noted that retail trade turnover rose by 10.4%, while foreign trade turnover increased by 3.7% over the period.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, after hearing the report, emphasized the importance of consistently improving the performance of the economic, financial and banking sectors. In this regard, the head of state instructed the deputy prime minister to continue ensuring steady GDP growth and to maintain strict control over the efficient and targeted use of budget funds.
The meeting also addressed other important issues of state life, with relevant decisions adopted.
