Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Georgia Dovletmyrat Seyitmammedov held talks on Friday with Georgia’s Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs Mikheil Sarjveladze to discuss key areas of cooperation in the pharmaceutical industry, medical research, and the introduction of innovative technologies in healthcare.
The meeting took place at the Kutateladze Institute of Pharmacochemistry and was attended by Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University Irakli Natroshvili and Director of the institute M. Getia, according to the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia.
The sides also focused on the study of medicinal plants and the development of phytotherapy as an important complement to modern healthcare, highlighting the importance of scientific research into plant properties for the development of effective and safe medicines.
The ambassador noted that a notable example is the 17-volume work Medicinal Plants of Turkmenistan by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Doctor of Medical Sciences and Professor Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, which details the healing properties of plants and their use in scientific and traditional medicine.
Participants emphasized the importance of strengthening scientific and practical cooperation between relevant institutions and expressed interest in further deepening collaboration.
On Thursday, the Turkmen ambassador also met with Georgia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Khvtisiashvili to discuss prospects for further development of bilateral cooperation.
