Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang will visit Turkmenistan from April 15 to 17 and take part in the groundbreaking ceremony for the fourth phase of development of the Galkynysh gas field.
According to Xinhua News Agency, Ding will attend the events as a special representative of Xi Jinping.
During the visit, the Chinese delegation will also participate in the seventh meeting of the Turkmen-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee for Cooperation, scheduled for April 16 in Ashgabat, where Ding will serve as co-chair from the Chinese side.
The fourth phase of the Galkynysh field development is seen as a key element of Turkmenistan’s export energy strategy. The project предусматривает the construction of a facility with a capacity of 10 billion cubic meters of commercial gas per year, as well as the drilling and commissioning of new wells to ensure planned production volumes.
