Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan discussed prospects for developing the gas sector, energy security issues, and opportunities for cooperation in sustainable energy.
SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf participated in a scientific conference titled “Turkmenistan — China: 20 Years of Strategic Partnership in the Gas Sector,” held April 16, 2026, in Ashgabat, according to a social media post.
The Azerbaijani delegation’s participation was organized at the invitation of Turkmenistan’s State Minister and Chairman of the Turkmengaz State Concern Maksat Babayev.
SOCAR has previously expressed interest in participating in projects to develop gas fields in Turkmenistan.
